Hi there. If you’ve come to this page, I’m thinking you’ve had enough of my “look how professional I am” content. Let’s get weird.
The reality is I’m a writer and coach managing life as a busy dad of two girls. Some days, coffee and hope are all that keep me going.
A brief history of (my) time
You might be wondering how I came to be a freelance writer. I’m often wondering the same thing…
For starters I was a competitive bowler who became a high performance coach in 2009. I’m now the Head Coach for Team Canada, but I started as a business owner who coached on the side and also wrote a daily (!!) blog about bowling.
As Head Coach, I’m responsible for overseeing the training of some of the best bowlers in the world. I work with them on technique, mindset, decision making and coach them at world-level competitions.
Oh, and that blog I was writing for my business? It’s long gone, but that’s how I got my first paid freelance contract to write coaching articles for Bowling This Month as a print publication.
When I stepped away from coaching from 2018 to 2024 to start a family, I spent five of those years as Director of Content for BTM as a digital magazine. I was responsible for recruiting writers, managing and editing articles along with my favourite part: producing and ghostwriting a variety of content.
I’ve also worked as an instructional designer editing scripts and writing copy for e-learning courses, had a moderately successful run as a Twitch streamer focusing on Lego and pop culture, spoken at two World Coach Conferences and written three (3!!!) books for bowlers.
Ok, so it wasn’t that brief, but if you want to learn more about me and how we can work together, let’s chat.
Team Canada Bowling

I’ve bowled all my life, and coached for more than half of it. It’s a sport that’s easy to play and tough to master.
What do coaching elite bowlers and writing have in common? Both require a combination of structure, discipline and creative thinking.
D & D

I’m the DM for my friends’ D&D game.
This means I split my time pretty evenly between trying to kill them and rewarding them handsomely for surviving.
I love the storytelling aspect of this game. It really lets my creative side come out to play.
Lego (and Super Heroes)

When I started coaching Team Canada I needed a new hobby, and Lego fit the bill.
It’s tactile, creative and one of the best toys that can be used for play, team building and even a fully meditative experience (just not with a 5-year-old hanging around).
p.s. Did anyone get my Stephen Hawking reference?
Kudos if you did, or even if you stuck around long enough to find this section at the bottom of the page. You’re my kind of people.
If you want to read a little more, check out the blog I wrote about my mindset shift from a coach that writes to a writer that coaches.
